The Unfolding of ADC and the Internal Strife
And as the sun rose on the second day of the seventh month, in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-five, a great announcement was made in the city of Abuja. For the grand coalition of opposition forces did formally unveil the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their chosen standard, to contend against the king in the year 2027.
David, the son of Mark, a seasoned elder who once presided over the Senate, was declared the National Chairperson, and Rauf, the son of Aregbesola, a man who once walked closely with King Bola, was made the National Secretary, while Bolaji, the son of Abdullahi, became their chief Spokesperson.
Yet, behold, even as this new banner was raised, a serpent of discord did coil within the very belly of the ADC. For a faction of the party’s former leaders, whose names were not all written in the scrolls, did rise up in protest.
They cried aloud, saying, “The due process of our party was not followed! This adoption of the coalition by Atiku, David Mark, and their company is an usurpation, and it undermines the true spirit of the African Democratic Congress!” Their rejection of the new alliance cast a pall over the celebratory unveiling.
Thus, even the hope of a united opposition was met with the harsh reality of internal strife, for the path to the throne was ever fraught with peril and disagreement.
And while the politicians played their games, the scribes of the International Monetary Fund, those foreign economic soothsayers, did gaze upon the kingdom’s economy. They spoke of a projected growth of 3.4 percent, citing a more stable naira. Yet, their words were tempered with a warning: poverty and food insecurity had risen, and further decline awaited should the troubles of security worsen across the land.
The House of Representatives, filled with many voices, did also demand a swift account, within forty-eight hours, of the budget of Rivers State, a sum of one point four-eight trillion naira. For questions arose concerning a sum of twenty-four billion naira allocated for mere CCTV cameras in the governor’s abode, a matter that further highlighted the profligacy amidst the people’s hardship.
Thus, the stage was set for a tumultuous season, with the king’s court in disarray, the opposition in internal contention, and the cries of the people echoing throughout the land, waiting for a true shepherd to lead them out of the wilderness.
And the chronicle of these days shall continue, for the machinations of men, both in power and in opposition, cease not, as the sun doth rise and set upon the land of Nigeria.
