Good news is most grants saw a modest increase this month, following the Budget Speech announcements. For example, the Older Persons, Disability, and Care Dependency Grants are up by R80 to R2,400, and the Child Support Grant by R20 to R580. The SRD R370 grant, though, remains unchanged but is extended until March 2027.

Just recently, SASSA welcomed the arrests of suspects, including their own staff, in a R4.9 million fraud case! Our Finance Minister is talking about R3 billion in savings from fraud detection over the medium term. Three. Billion. Rand. That's money that should have been in the hands of the truly vulnerable.
