CAF, yes, our very own Confederation of African Football, has just *stripped* Senegal of their hard-won AFCON title and handed it to Morocco!\n\nI’m not making this up! Two months after Senegal beat the hosts Morocco 1-0 in that intense final, CAF's Appeal Board decided Senegal *forfeited* the match because they walked off the pitch in protest of a late, controversial penalty decision. They've retroactively awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory! Forget VAR, forget extra time heroics, forget Sadio Mane and Pape Gueye doing the work on the pitch! Our football governing body decided the game was won in the boardroom, 58 days later!\n\nThis isn't just about football, people. This is a blatant, in-your-face example of the kind of institutional corruption and political maneuvering that has plagued our continent for too long. Senegal won that cup fair and square on the field, and now it's been snatched away in what can only be described as daylight robbery.\n\nHow do we explain this? Well, maybe it has something to do with the fact that the President of the Moroccan Football Association, Fouzi Lekjaa, also happens to be the *first vice-president of CAF*. Coincidence? Or a classic case of conflict of interest turning our beautiful game into a mockery? CAF President Patrice Motsepe can defend the 'integrity' all he wants, but the optics on this are so bad, they're blinding!\n\nThis is why we can't have nice things! This is why trust in our institutions is constantly eroded! From our elections to our football, it's the same pattern of powerful forces manipulating outcomes. The whole world is calling this a "global scandal", and rightly so. Even Guinea is now asking for their 1976 AFCON title to be reviewed because of similar circumstances!\n\nSenegal is taking this to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and I pray justice prevails, but this whole saga has left a bitter taste.
