And peep this: Google Gemini, with its advanced AI Mode, officially rolled out here in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa in August 2025. This isn't just a fancy search tool, fam. It's Google's latest brain-child, capable of understanding complex questions and giving us richer answers, even supporting local languages in its development. Google is even giving college students free access to their AI Pro plan to boost innovation. The potential is mind-blowing – AI could pump trillions into Africa's economy by 2030!

While our young people are hustling to acquire these vital AI skills, and companies are crying out for AI talent (demand in SA alone jumped 77% between 2024 and 2025, and every company surveyed expects an AI talent gap by 2025!), what are our governments doing?
We need roughly $6 billion more in data center investments by 2030 to keep up. Nigeria is still battling severe power challenges, a fundamental barrier to scaling any digital revolution. Kenya's got a national AI strategy, but are these just fancy documents, or are we seeing concrete, corruption-proof action?
Because let's be honest, the same political dysfunction and 'carry-go' mentality that have plagued us for decades are still very much alive. We're seeing allegations against top officials in Kenya and Nigeria right now, high-profile corruption cases dragging on, and critical national issues like insecurity and failing infrastructure taking a backseat to political maneuvering.
How can we truly leverage the power of AI, to create jobs, streamline governance, improve healthcare, and even fight corruption, when the very foundations are crumbling under the weight of mismanagement and unchecked greed?
