AprokoNation, what's good?! We need to talk! 🗣️
Remember late 2025? The buzz was electrifying! From the nail-biting FA Cup showdown between Luton Town and Chelsea that had us glued to our screens, to the intense local clashes like Zamalek vs. Future that dominated conversations from Kenya to Nigeria and Egypt.
The passion, the unity, and the sheer energy in viewing centers and homes was something else! For those 90 minutes (or 120!), "tribe and tongue" truly did not differ. We were one nation, collectively screaming at the TV, celebrating goals, and agonizing over every missed chance. The Gbas Gbos
Now, here is the real gbas gbos we need to unpack: If we can pour this much passion into the game, if we can demand excellence and hold football teams and referees to such high standards of fair play, why do we settle for absolute mediocrity and impunity in our politics?
2026 is already shaping up to be a year of "rancorous politics" as eyes turn toward the 2027 elections. While citizens are crying out for accountability and better governance, our politicians are busy with power plays, scheming, horse-trading, and compromises. It feels like attention is shifting entirely from governance to politicking. It’s as if they’re playing a completely different game—one with murky rules and compromised umpires, where incompetence is rewarded instead of sanctioned. A Mirror of the Game
Even our local football leagues have suffered from this same dysfunction. We see selection based on nepotism, embezzlement, and a blatant disregard for merit. It’s a sad reflection of our reality: the same corruption we decry in our national governance has infiltrated the very sport that is supposed to unite us. The Call to Action
My people, it’s time to channel that fervent energy into demanding accountability from our leaders. Imagine if we held elected officials to the same standards as a star striker. Imagine if we demanded transparency in public funds with the same vigor we use to argue about VAR decisions.
We deserve leaders who prioritize the people over party caucuses, leaders who play by the rules and value merit. Let’s make 2026 the year we transfer our "stadium-level passion" to the ballot box and accountability forums.
Don't let them tell you your voice doesn't matter. If you can scream for a goal, you can sure as hell scream for justice!
