Nigerians are petitioning Netflix for Abuse by Movie Producer/Actress Toyin Abraham.

The news is that Toyin Abraham got the Nigerian police to arrest a certain Ayo who twitted about her. She claimed Ayo defamed her, so instead of going through the court she used the Police to track him to his house, and when they couldn’t find him at home they arrested the mother and sister. Hian! If somebody defamed you, why not sue him/her. This our people just like harassment. Some people like to use the lawless Nigerian Police to detain people incommunicado.

Did you see the tweet that got her riled up? Something she responded like she understood it was banter., and they were bantering back and forth and she realized this was all bantering

And in any alleged case of defamation, the right thing to do is get your lawyers involved and demand an apology, retraction, or sue, instead of harassment using the usual culprit.

Asking Netflix Nigeria to cancel an actress just because your favorite was the one picked up for defamation is an abuse of power of the masses.

I support it fully because in my opinion, that’s the only way to check their excesses… she abused her status by leveraging her celebrity power to get the guy arrested in the first place. See, I also don’t support bullying, but Emotional Intelligence is key. People that you should know that once they decide to be a public figure, their life becomes a public affair. You should be able to take whatever is thrown at you and handle it maturely by following due process… NOT BY OPPRESSION!
