Just this month, the African Development Bank and UNDP launched a massive $10 BILLION 'AI 10 Billion Initiative' at the Nairobi AI Forum, promising up to 40 million new jobs across the continent by 2035!
This is HUGE, right? This is our chance to leapfrog, to solve critical problems in healthcare, agriculture, and education, and finally create real opportunities for our booming youth population. But here’s Muphu’s question, and I need us to be real: Will this AI revolution truly be for us – the everyday citizens, the small businesses, the young entrepreneurs battling daily struggles? Or will it become another 'national project' where billions are earmarked, only to disappear into the pockets of a select few, leaving us with 'budgetary constraints' and 'technical difficulties' when it's time to deliver?
Are our leaders ready to create genuine policy frameworks and invest in the digital infrastructure and skills development for everyone, or will this transformative technology just widen the digital divide, benefiting only the well-connected elite, much like basic services today?
