Our people, the everyday hustlers, are already stepping up, trying to grab a piece of this future. My Kenyan brothers and sisters, for example, are showing the world how it's done, leading in ChatGPT usage with a whopping 42.1% of internet users engaging with it by July 2025 – far ahead of some other big economies!
They say AI could add trillions to Africa's economy by 2030 – we're talking R1 trillion to R1.4 trillion to South Africa's GDP alone! This isn't small money; this is transformational wealth, job creation, and problem-solving at a scale we've only dreamed of. Yet, while the citizens are aggressively seeking skills and opportunities, what exactly are our governments doing?
Sure, we hear about national strategies being launched, like Kenya's National AI Strategy 2025-2030, and ministers agreeing on continental initiatives. But is that enough? Are these policies truly translating into accessible infrastructure, quality education, and real investment that matches the people's hunger?
