According to Nairametrics, the Bank of Industry (BOI) has laid down a massive 2027 roadmap that aims to create and sustain three million jobs while pumping N1.85 trillion into annual lending. The plan hinges on financing 24,000 MSMEs across manufacturing, agriculture, local healthcare and tech‑driven firms, with a clear focus on sectors that can cut import dependence and boost domestic production – “we must finance what Nigeria makes,” the MD Olasupo Olusi said (see S5).
In 2025 BOI already disbursed N625 billion, reaching 12,501 businesses and supporting 1.6 million jobs (S6). Building on that, the bank pledges to allocate 35 % of its funding to MSMEs, 15 % to women‑owned businesses, and 20 % of MSME financing to youth‑led enterprises (S7). At least 10 % of the loan portfolio will target climate‑related projects, leveraging the $617.7 million IDICE programme for tech and creative ventures.
The strategy rolls out over three years – 2025 as the foundation, 2026 for execution, and 2027 for consolidation (S4). With these numbers, the question for us sure guys is: can BOI really deliver on such lofty targets, or will the figures stay on paper? Share your thoughts, wo, and let’s see if the plan can truly comot body for Nigeria’s job market.
