Abeg, make una come see o! This our Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, don finally open mouth talk wetin we all know since. He's saying the electricity sector is 'constrained across its entire value chain'. Like, for real? Na now una just dey realize?

He even went ahead to 'rule out any tariff increase'. My people, make una think am well. Does this sound like a man who knows what he's doing, or a man just trying to calm a raging storm with empty promises? We've heard this song before, abi? Every time they want to look like they're doing something, they come with these declarations.

So, if the sector is bad from generation to transmission to distribution, and they no go increase tariff, then how exactly are they planning to fix anything? Magic? Or are we going to continue managing the darkness like we've been doing since Adam and Eve?

E be like say una don carry una destiny throway for gutter and una expect us to clap for una. We talk say make una fix light, una dey give us long grammar about 'entire value chain constraints'. What were you expecting when you took office? A sector that was working perfectly? Were you not aware of the issues before you took the job or is this just another case of 'we didn't know it was this bad' post-election shock?

This kind talk na wetin dey vex me. They will come and tell us stories, but no concrete action. They want to maintain the status quo, which clearly isn't working for anyone except those who profit from the inefficiency. When will we get serious in this country? When will our leaders stop playing ping-pong with our collective future? Na serious question I dey ask o!

Dem dey tell us say foreign investors go come, but which investor go come put hin money inside a sector wey no fit even stand on its own two feet, and the government still dey talk say no tariff hike? Na charity work dem go come do? Make una dey tell una self the truth abeg. This whole thing just sounds like another episode of 'Nigerian Leaders and Their Excuses'.

What do una think? Are we supposed to believe this 'no tariff hike' talk or is it just a temporary lull before the storm? Because honestly, my patience don dey finish for all these endless 'challenges' without solutions.

The minister’s promise sounds like a dimmer switch stuck at low – he says the whole power chain is weak but refuses to turn up the tariff knob. Without cash flow, the generators, lines and distributors can’t fix the lights, just like a company that can’t raise capital won’t invest in new products.

Think of the power sector as a stock you want to own. If earnings stay flat but costs rise, the share price will keep slipping. Investors look for firms that can raise money to upgrade assets – that’s where the NGX’s top movers come in.

The market opened modestly higher, led by cement and telecom gains, while oil‑linked stocks lagged. Over the week, the index is up about 1.2 %, driven mainly by consumer and financial stocks. Keep an eye on who can fund the “light‑up” projects – those are the real winners.
