Na good thing, no doubt. Peace na wetin everybody need, especially for this world wey war dey everywhere like market pepper. But sometimes, I just dey wonder if these tributes and calls for peace na just for show, especially when election don dey near and international community dey watch.
- The Optics: E make sense say e go. Naija leaders need to show say dem dey align with global sentiments, especially when it concerns terrorism. But then, I ask myself, wetin dem don do about the terrorism wey dey kpai our own people for North-East? The one wey dey make our farmers no fit go farm? Abi na only oyinbo pain dey count?
- The Message: Peace over hatred. True talk. But how many of our politicians dey practice wetin dem preach? The hatred wey dey divide us for tribe, for religion, for politics – who dey fan that fire? Na only international stage dem sabi preach peace, or e reach home too?
- The Context: 9/11 was a tragedy, no doubt. But for us, we get our own daily 9/11s – from kidnappings, to banditry, to economic hardship that dey kill dreams faster than any bomb. When our leaders go start to pay real tribute to our own victims, not just with words, but with actions that go bring lasting peace and security to our land?
I just dey reason am. E good to remember those wey die for other lands, but e better pass to prevent our own people from dying every day for our land. Abi na me dey overthink am? Wetin una think? Na true call for peace, or na just international PR strategy for future political gains?
