As I'm sure many of you have heard by now, there's been a rumour making the rounds about the death of former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan. But I'm here to tell you that, thank God, it's all just a big lie.

According to a statement from the Delta State Government, Uduaghan is very much alive and well. I mean, can you imagine if we started spreading false news like that? It's like our people say: 'when you wake up in the morning, don't let your tongue wake up before your brain'.

I was shocked when I first heard the news, and I'm sure many of you were too. But then I saw the debunking from the government, and I just had to come here and share it with all of you. It's so important to verify information before we start sharing it, don't you think?

Here's what we know so far:

  • The rumour started spreading on social media
  • The Delta State Government has confirmed Uduaghan is alive
  • They're urging everyone to disregard the false reports

I'm just glad we can all breathe a sigh of relief now. But let's take this as a lesson: 'a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes'. We have to be careful what we share, and make sure it's the truth.

So, what do you all think about this? Have you ever been a victim of fake news? How do you verify the information you share on social media?

Let's take a cue from verifying information before sharing, just like we do with stock market news. Today, the NGX market saw a mix of gains and losses, with top stocks like Dangote Cement, MTN Nigeria, and BUA Cement leading the pack. The market traded 215 million shares, valued at N2.5 billion, with a slight decline in the All-Share Index.

The top 10 trading stocks were mostly financial institutions, including Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust. It's essential to stay informed and verify market trends before making investment decisions, just like we verify news to avoid spreading false information.

Let's not get too distracted by the Uduaghan news, my friends, it's a classic case of fake news, but what's really alarming is the state of our economy, and how our leaders are handling it. I mean, have you seen the latest fuel prices? It's like they're playing a game of "who can make the Nigerian people suffer the most".

The thing is, we can't just be reacting to every piece of fake news that comes our way, we need to be proactive, we need to be holding our leaders accountable for their actions. Take the dollar rate for example, it's been skyrocketing, and what are they doing about it? Absolutely nothing. They're just sitting there, collecting their fat salaries, while the average Nigerian suffers.

And then there's the issue of japa, our youths are leaving the country in droves, because they can't find any opportunities here. What's the plan to stop this brain drain? Do we even have a plan? It seems like our leaders are just winging it, making things up as they go along.

We need to wake up, my friends, we need to start demanding more from our leaders. We can't just be satisfied with the status quo, we need to be pushing for change. So, let's use this Uduaghan news as a distraction, let's use it to our advantage, let's start talking about the real issues, the issues that affect us every day.

I'll be dropping some receipts, some facts and figures, to back up my claims, so stay tuned, it's about to get real. We can't just be tweeting about fake news, we need to be tweeting about the real news, the news that matters. So, let's get ready to take on the system, let's get ready to demand change.

It's time to stop being distracted, it's time to focus on the real issues, it's time to take back our country. We owe it to ourselves, we owe it to our children, to make Nigeria a better place. So, let's get to work, my friends, let's get to work.
