On Abel Damina and his new Gospel

"Abel Damina is a preacher I have never liked due to the radical nature of his teachings. It had always been about one message: ‘Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, shaken, press down, and running over shall men give unto your bosom.’ He also had this tactics of making anyone who was doing well a Pastor, just to ground them.

Sometime around 1997, in one of his righteous invasion of truth (RIOT) messages, he called out Deeper Life for preaching holiness messages only and for telling their members not to be too rich. I recall him praying in the name of the Lord that all their riches should come to his church, and his members screamed a loud Amen.

My dislike for him grew even deeper until I met a lady who introduced me to Full Life in 2007. I told her how I never liked Damina, but she repeatedly warned that if we must be friends (you know), I must like Damina because he was her Papa’s spiritual father.

To confirm this, I have witnessed Damina step into Noah’s Ark on two occasions uninvited, and immediately, walk straight to the altar to preach a new message from what the Pastor was already preaching.

Let’s talk about the transactional gospel. I am aware of how Pastors across nations used to lobby this same Damina to come raise seeds in their churches. According to them, the narrative was that if you must prosper in ministry financially, you have to sow a wicked seed to Damina to receive his impartation.

I won’t join words with people who are against him today, but I ask: If Damina were still preaching the transactional gospel, would you attack him? Another question: If Damina was not preaching new creation realities and the finished work of Christ on the cross instead of the junk preached today, would you attack him?

I guess not. You see, it is very typical that anywhere light springs up, darkness must fight back, so I’m not surprised if he is experiencing attacks today for calling out false doctrines, and doing so fearlessly. And as for his arrogance, he has always been like that—if he used it to preach the other gospel, what makes you think he wouldn’t display the same arrogance with his new realities?

I may not still like Damina, but one thing I know is that we need more Daminas, and there’s no gentleman about this one: The kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence and the violent must take it by force."

I expected those criticizing Abel Damina to refute his doctrines with sound theological arguments, rather than resorting to remarks about his church being ‘practically empty,’ his building ‘dilapidated,’ or insinuations that he’s ’angry because he’s been left behind’ while others fly private jets.

The conversation should have been elevated to a theologically intellectual level, as Dr. Damina is attempting, rather than descending into the realm of petty political discourse as if they are a branch of APC.

This trend within Nigerian Christendom is quite disappointing.

It is very disappointing but I guess, this is why we’re told to never have expectation. His detractors have nothing to say beyond doing everything to protect their business empire.

Where is the place of “He is envious for being left behind” in the ideal christian calling or christendom? Does it even make sense coming from supposed Christians who would readily brandish the biblical directive “Not to judge”?

And I happened to hear mockery of his church standing even from Pastor Eneche of all persons.

All attacks so far has been on the messenger and not on the logicality of his message.

@"ifiok"#p272 There is actually no theological proof to counter Dr. Able Damina without sounding contradictory and stupid, if there exist any they would have come out fighting. I assumed that most of the people brandishing the label ‘christian’ don’t really know much apart from whatever their pastors teach to mean about that way of life. It is also one of the reasons many of them are led astray.

The way Pentecostalism works can lead to everyone having their own version of faith. If God is a personal experience, then each of us will experience God in our own way. Eventually, we might all become our own pastors and leaders.

Abel Damina, through his recent teachings, is moving away from Pentecostalism. He insists that Pentecostal churches should base their teachings on the Bible. This goes against the usual practice in Pentecostalism.

You can’t expect people with little or no scriptural knowledge to become pastors and debate with those who have deep scriptural understanding.

With my decent English skills, I could start a church easily and have a hundred or more regular followers by the end of the year. Ignorant pride is a problem we haven’t addressed, but it threatens to destroy us.

Churches are now places of religious pilgrimages, people flock from different places just to participate in the activities, with the pastors being the golden calf…these are the same folks some female will worship and defer to at the expense of their spouses.
